SYTYCD 8/4
Aug. 4th, 2010 10:23 pmFirst, an OT - Congrats, California!
Somehow, until tonight, I failed to fully absorb that we're down to the top 4, and therefore almost at the finale. As of this writing (pre-show) I'm betting on Lauren vs. Kent.
Tonight, I'm going dance by dance instead of person by person.
-- group number --
Guys and Dolls: All of them danced well. Tyce's choreography is usually good but leaves me going "eh", and this was no exception. I don't know that Kent stood out as the best like Adam said, but Adechike stood out to me as being slightly worse than the other three.
-- round 1 --
Lauren and Pasha's Tango: Gorgeous and amazingly hot. Every moment sizzled. She really can dance anything, can't she? She looks like she's been doing tango all her life.
Adechike and Lauren's Afro Jazz: Another well danced "eh" from me. I was actually thinking that he seemed a little stiff before Nigel and Mia brought it up. I think maybe that's what has been making me feel like he isn't as talented as the other three.
Robert and Anya's Viennese Waltz: Waltz is hard, yo. They did a great job, though it didn't have all the... float? that I expect from it. The lift where he's holding her just by his hands clasped behind her back impressed the shit out of me, though.
Kent and Courtney's Disco: Fun! And wow, that lift spin... But not great. He's almost always better than that. Last week wasn't his best either. Is the pressure getting to him?
-- round 2 --
Lauren and Ade's Jazz: HOT. And not just because of that see-through cat suit (but whoa!). (And again, that lift!)
Adechike and Catherine's... Contemporary?: There were lots of great pieces, but the overall didn't really work for me. I'm not sure why. It might just be me being weird.
Robert and Dominick's Hip Hop: Now THAT'S what I've been waiting for from both the show and from him. For the first time, he reminded me of Mark, and it was incredible. Easily the best of the night.
Kent and Neil's (Travis!) Contemporary: At last Kent is back to form. Stunning. Travis is incredible.
PREDICTIONS
